Breath

Defining Pranayama

Pra: bring forth

Prana: the life force that animates all existence or that which causes animation of life force

Ayama: to stretch or expand life force, dimension

Pranayama: breathing in and breathing out with conscious awareness to encourage balance and harmony of internal energy; to expand the dimensions of prana within the body.

Prana and the Body

Eastern medicine believes prana or qi is the animating force of our life. It permeates us down to a cellular level and is responsible for the way things move within us. The way prana moves or doesn’t move in the organs and meridians (pathways) directly affects our mental, physical, and emotional health. When we bring awareness to how we breathe we have the capacity to align ourselves with health. -Gabrielle Harris

Breath and the Mind

The breath flows in and just before it turns to flow out, there is a flash of pure joy. Life is renewed. Awaken into that. - The Radiant Sutras

Space Between Breaths

The space between each breath is the bridge between our inner and outer worlds.

Movement Focus

The physical focus of our practice will be strengthening and stretching the muscles around and associated with the hip.
