Samskaras How do you do anything is how you do everything. Samskaras are the habits we develop and the thought impressions they sear on us. How we move, breathe, think, and feel on the mat is both a reflection of how we do everything in our lives and an opportunity to know better and then do better. Acceptance and Gratitude Thich Nhat Hanh states “a reminder to say yes and thank you to whatever the present moment has gifted”. Acceptance of what is, now. The Obstacle is the Path Often major hindrances are our greatest teachers. Our response to these obstacles is often fear or defeat but when we shift our mindset to see the obstacle as a path we stay true to our heart’s calling and stay true to our intentions. Challenges can sometimes make our positive attitude a distant goal so can we learn from these challenges, bring resilience and grow. Unexpected Joy You can find unexpected joy everywhere. Can we appreciate the unexpected joys we find? Can we find new elements of our yoga practice to enjoy? Find joy in the breath, find joy in your life, find joy in all living things. Meditation FocusThis month we will explore a loving kindness meditation towards someone we care about, towards ourselves, towards a challenging person and towards everyone. The meditation is below. Thinking of the intended person/people with compassion, love and warmth repeat the following. May you be happy. |
